A Dog and her Ball

Yorkshire Terrier with ball at Torridon

Tess with her Ball

A very important item this ball.  Tess is not a great one for toys, but this ball is an essential.  If we go to a beach or somewhere where there is an area of flattish grassland, we get into terrible trouble if we don’t have the ball ready.

When she was a puppy, a black labrador picked up her ball, only to be playful, and she has never forgiven black dogs or labradors ever since.  It’s as if they are all held responsible and are all seen as potential ball thieves.  Still that was only 11 years ago, so I guess there’s still time for her to forgive.

This shot was taken near Torridon village on Scotland’s North West coast.  A truly spectacular area.

  1. sweet dog, lovely story and a great perspective for your shot. Love that background too! Happy New Year!

Great shot, it has somehow the motion feeling in it. wonderful! 🙂

  3. What a perfect name after (Tess of the D’urbervilles perhaps?)

    • It does suit her, but I can’t claim that we specifically thought of Hardy’s Tess when we named her. Knowing her now, if I has to choose a Hardy character to name her after a better fit would be Bathsheba Everdene.

Let me know what you're thinking.........
