I’m sure I’m not the only person out there to be completely ashamed of my first album choice.
Everyone likes to make out their first choice was something special, that demonstrates what good taste in music they had early on, no chance of that I’m afraid.
I was 12 when this came out in 1972, and my favourite song at the time was Rock and Roll Part 1. This is back in the days when you bought an album on the strength of one song, and probably didn’t get a chance to find out what any of the other tracks sounded like. Boy was I disappointed. To say the rest of the album was filler would be too much of a compliment, total garbage.

So what did I learn from this? If the height of lyrical content is “Hey Hey Hey”, then it’s best to keep your money in your pocket, and never trust “Rock Stars” who suddenly appear from nowhere in their 40s.
What was your first album? Something embarrassing, or one to proud of?
